Join Susan Marcel, D.O. for a free webinar on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM (ET). Dr. Marcel will present, „Connecting with a Troubled Teen Through Trust and Music“ in a discussion with interviewer/host Chris Burritt, D.O. Following their conversation, you will have the opportunity to ask questions by on-line chat. Please note this webinar is scheduled earlier than usual.

Six months prior to the pandemic, Myriam, a previously healthy, athletic 17-year-old teenager, became increasingly anxious, moody, disorganized, delusional and paranoid. Her parents sought in-person treatment but Myriam continued to deteriorate, requiring hospitalization to keep her safe.

After her hospitalization, Myriam and her parents resumed in-person psychotherapy sessions with Dr. Marcel. Given her deep mistrust, Myriam had great difficulty academically, socially and in her sessions. In the spring of 2020, the pandemic began, requiring a change to virtual telemedicine psychotherapy sessions. Additionally, for the rest of her senior year her high school classes became virtual.

As she struggled through these challenges and her fears, Myriam’s lively, spontaneous nature began to emerge. Her therapeutic relationship with Dr. Marcel, which included a shared passion for music, was key to helping her see how to cope with her emotions.

Please join us as we learn about Myriam’s treatment and see how a troubled teenager grew into a budding college-bound young woman.

The webinar will be facilitated by Zoom and will last approximately one hour. Attendance is free. Registration is required.
